Cancellation and refund policy
From consulting to online training and e-books.
We provide the criteria to check before purchase and instructions for requesting a refund.
Effective date · September 23, 2026 / Policy version · 1.0
01Scope of Application and General Criteria
This policy applies to paid consulting, training access passes, premium access passes, e-books, and physical books sold through the CMC TECH website. Free consultations, free training, and materials provided free of charge have no paid amount to refund.
Under the Electronic Commerce Act, withdrawal of a subscription is generally available within 7 days from the day the contract details are received. If the product or service is supplied later, the period is calculated from the day it is received or supply begins. Where the law provides for cases such as failure to deliver the contract details, the applicable statutory period applies. Restrictions on services and digital content whose provision has begun apply according to the criteria below and the statutory requirements.
Refund benefits set more favorably than the statutory criteria in this policy will be applied as stated. If a mandatory provision of applicable law or an applicable education-fee refund standard is more favorable to the customer, that standard takes precedence. For corporate consulting conducted under an individual quotation or contract, the contract details will also be reviewed, without limiting rights under applicable law.
02Consulting Cancellation·Refunds
Before contracted work such as paid diagnosis, analysis, consultation, or report preparation begins, we provide a full refund of the payment. A reservation or schedule discussion alone does not constitute commencement.
When a cancellation is requested, only the amount corresponding to the work actually provided up to that point is deducted, and the unprovided portion is refunded. The full amount is not deducted merely because payment was made or the entire scope of work was reserved.
The amount is calculated using the stage-based amounts or hourly rates provided before the contract and the work actually provided. The basis for calculation will be explained to the customer, and no rates, costs, or separate cancellation penalties not agreed in advance will be added. No deduction is made for portions for which there is no calculation standard or no evidence that they were provided.
A customized report will not be categorically excluded from refunds merely because it was “custom-made.” If the work cannot be performed for reasons attributable to the company or is provided differently from the contract, the “Defects·Non-provision” criteria below apply.
03Online Training·Course Access Cancellation·Refunds
Before playing a paid lecture or participating in a class, we provide a full refund. Membership registration, login, and free previews alone do not constitute the start of course use. For time-based products, the period is calculated from the usage start date stated before purchase.
If cancellation is requested during the usage period, only the portion actually used is deducted based on the amount allocated to each course or session as stated before payment. If no allocation was separately stated, the actual payment is allocated equally across all paid courses or sessions. Repeated attendance of the same class is not deducted more than once.
The deduction is calculated by multiplying the daily amount—actual payment divided by the total number of paid usage days—by the number of elapsed days from the usage start date to the cancellation request date. Periods during which the service was unavailable due to a company outage are excluded. A normally provided access pass whose validity period has ended has no remaining period.
Refund amount = Actual payment − Amount of the portion provided·used
The distinction between course-based and time-based products and the usage period are stated for each product before payment. The two criteria are not applied simultaneously to make duplicate deductions. If the settlement method was not clearly stated in advance, the amount is calculated in the customer’s favor based on the verifiable usage history. For training subject to separate statutory refund standards, such as academies and lifelong education facilities, the customer receives the more favorable amount after comparison with those standards.
Discounted purchases are also calculated based on the actual payment. Upon cancellation, the price is not recalculated at the regular price, nor is a new charge imposed on a free course.
04E-book·Physical Book Cancellation·Refunds
E-books·Downloadable Materials
- If the paid content has not been viewed or the file downloaded and the request is within the statutory withdrawal period, we provide a full refund. A full refund is also provided if payment has been completed but the file or access pass has not been provided.
- After provision has begun, such as viewing paid content or downloading it, withdrawal due to a simple change of mind may be restricted. However, this applies only when the restrictions were clearly disclosed before purchase and the measures required by law, such as trial use or partial access, have been provided. Any required confirmation and consent procedures are also completed before provision begins.
- Free contents lists and previews are not included in the use of paid content. For bundled products containing multiple books, the right to withdraw from separable portions not provided is guaranteed.
- File errors, omissions, or content differing from the description may qualify for a refund due to defects or non-performance even after viewing or downloading.
When Physical Books Are Sold
A return may be requested within the statutory withdrawal period. For a return due to a simple change of mind, the customer bears the return shipping cost; for a return due to reasons attributable to the company, such as damage or incorrect delivery, the company bears the cost. A return will not be refused merely because packaging was opened to inspect the contents. If the product’s value has significantly decreased due to damage or use attributable to the customer, the return may be restricted in accordance with statutory requirements. The return address will be provided after the request is received.
05Defects·Non-provision·Duplicate Payment
If the company cannot provide the promised service or the product has a defect, we will take appropriate measures, such as proper provision, replacement, or refund. If proper provision is impossible or the purpose of the contract cannot be achieved, the defective or unprovided portion will be refunded; if the overall purpose of the contract cannot be achieved, a full refund will be provided. The customer’s statutory right of withdrawal will not be limited by making it conditional on accepting an exchange or re-provision.
If the product or service was performed differently from its representation, advertising, or contract terms, withdrawal may be exercised within 3 months from the day it was received and within 30 days from the day the customer learned or could have learned of the fact. In this case, the company bears the return cost. Duplicate payments and overpayments will be fully refunded after verification.
06Refund Applications and Processing Time
You may apply by email or telephone below. Applications are accepted regardless of whether you are logged in to the website.
- Application: Provide the purchaser’s name, order number (or payment date and product name if unavailable), contact information for the reply, and the request details. We do not require a detailed reason for a simple withdrawal.
- Details: We will review the payment and usage history and explain the refund amount, deduction basis, and scope of termination for the relevant access pass.
- Refund: As a rule, refunds are made to the original payment method. If a bank-account refund is required, we request only the necessary account information after verifying the account holder’s identity.
Refunds under statutory withdrawal rights are processed within 3 business days from the withdrawal date for services, digital content, and products not supplied, and within 3 business days from the date physical books are returned. Additional refunds for early termination provided by the company are also processed within 3 business days from the cancellation request date. For card payments, cancellation and refund measures are taken within this period, although the time when they are reflected by the card company or bank may vary by payment institution. The statutory refund deadline will not be delayed until the company’s internal approval date.
International payments are canceled in the original payment currency. The local-currency amount shown on the customer’s statement may differ depending on the exchange rate and posting time applied by the payment institution. The company’s PG fee is not separately deducted from refunds legally eligible for a full refund.
Access passes for the refunded portion will end. If a refund is received for an e-book or material, the relevant file must be deleted and its use, reproduction, and distribution must cease. Access passes purchased through other orders remain active.
07Inquiries·Dispute Resolution and Policy Changes
Matters not covered by this policy will be handled in accordance with applicable laws and consumer dispute resolution standards. For consumer disputes that are difficult to resolve, consultation or mediation may be requested through relevant organizations such as the 1372 Consumer Counseling Center.
When changing this policy, we will announce the changes and effective date on the website. Existing purchases remain subject to the policy in effect at the time of purchase, and changes that reduce statutory rights or are unfavorable will not be applied retroactively.
